Delegates from the Tourism Office of Colorado, the western state in the United States of America recently paid a maiden visit to the Indian market, and jointly with Brand USA plans to increase the awareness about its tourism offerings in the year ahead. “We are working jointly with Brand USA and plan to participate in their three-city annual road show in September this year. We are also open to tie up with representation companies to help us build awareness about Colorado among the Indian travel trade. For reaching out to the Indian travellers, we plan to launch a Colorado for India Facebook page by the year end. Eventually we will conduct workshops for the travel trade as well but the initial promotion would be through Brand USA,” said Michael Driver, Director – International Marketing and PR, Colorado Tourism Office, Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

With an increase in the budget for overseas promotion, this year Colorado Tourism showcased the destination in the potential Indian market. It is undoubtedly a great opportunity which offered growth and built new relationships. India is the 15th emerging source market for Colorado Tourism as per 2015 figures. We are targeting increased visitation from India. Driver informed that they are in talks with carriers such as Emirates to commence connections to Colorado via Dubai. We are also trying to push for flight connections between Delhi and Denver, which will be a milestone but it will take some time, he added.

The period from June until October is the best time to visit Colorado, he said. Aspen, in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains is a ski resort town and Vail, a small town at the base of Vail Mountain, home of the massive Vail Ski Resort are two of the many wonderful places to visit. Set within White River National Forest, the town of Vail is a gateway for winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, golfing and hiking. There are a number of film, music, food and beer festivals that take place in summers (June-October).
